Dawn Norrey-Drouin MSW, RSW
With over 20 years of experience as a social worker, I have been fortunate to be able to work in many healthcare settings. I have worked in acute care, case management, inpatient rehabilitation, outpatient rehabilitation, and individual counselling in the community. Throughout all of these positions, I have advocated, supported, and educated patients and families through their health care journey.
Advocacy is a core skill for social workers as our focus is on enhancing the well being of individuals, families, and communities. I have worked with and counseled many individuals and families impacted by medical issues who are then thrust into navigating the complicated world of healthcare. What should often be a straightforward path to care, seldom is. One of my guiding principles is to “meet the client where they are at,” which allows me to tailor my advocacy and support to what is important at a given point in time and care.
It has been a privilege to work with so many wonderful clients and families during their often most stressful times. I am excited to be able to continue this work as a health advocate and help guide others through their health care journey.
When I am not working I can be found spending time with my husband and twin girls, playing tennis, working out, and enjoying the hiking trails.
